Are people really surprised by her sword? Been fairly constant in comics for several years.

I feel the exact same. I have no prob with WW carrying a sword, but the lasso should be her go-to weapon. It's so tied up in the lore, including Marston's original bondage themes.

And, wow, loving the blue cape! Which was actually mentioned on some rumor site last year. I guess we can actually believe everything we read on th net.

Hope the cape doesn't look like a carpet in the movie as it does in this promo-piece. Overall I like it and her hair color is perfect as far as I'm concerned. I think it's gonna be black in the movie, it seemed obsidian-black in her ice bucket challenge video, possibly because her hair was wet. Black hair tends to look a bit witchy sometimes so I'm good with brown.

I hear you and don't necessarily disagree. but like others have said already, she looks pretty damn great with the cape. It's not like she never wore one on occasion before, either.

Yeah, we've gone almost a full year seeing no sign of this cape until just now.

Either they just decided to add it recently, or the cape isn't going to be a standard piece of her costume. It's probably something she puts on either for more formal occasions (if it's purely decorative,) or when she needs some special feature it provides (if it's actually a magical and/or scientific device.)

Yeah, I don't see how wearing a cape makes her less her own hero. If she were wearing Superman or Batman's cape, I could understand that. But this is clearly her own cape, with her own colors and everything. And she looks awesome in it, to boot.

Sure, it looks vaguely Batman-like in design, but to me that just makes me hopeful that the cape may somehow help her to fly. Not my favorite way to see Diana flying, I grant you. But I'll take it.

She's obviously not using the cape all the time. She keeps the sword and maybe the shield on her back, so she wouldn't be able to get them with the cape.

Honestly? This artwork is promotional art for the merchandising of the movie. It's even possible that the cape won't appear in the movie at all. Action figures and other movie merchandise items frequently add extra features that don't actually appear in the story being portrayed.

It's entirely possible that this image is just mean to appear on the back of action figure boxes, or something.

Directing prevents ass shots. We'll not see ass shots or sexualized ass shots (I think it's perfectly normal to happen quickly in action scenes, that's doesn't make it sexual, and it also happens to male characters) if the director doesn't want to.

I'm guessing it's purely decorative. That's how capes on WW are usually treated in the comics. I remember reading an Elseworlds once that had a full-page spread of WW wearing such a cape, looking all beautiful and sexy, and another female hero snarked that it certainly made her look "photogenic".

True, but I don't really count the statue because Synder is probably going to shoot the film using filters just like he did with the Man of Steel.

Re filters during filming, I've heard the WW costume actually does look more colorful in the movie than that first official reveal pic. Honestly I think Snyder was intentionally effing with fans with that first pic. Controversy creates interest and keeps people talking. I guess we'll know the true colors after WW is featured in a BvS trailer. Which I'm guessing will premiere around comic con.
