Check out the link below for Captain Atom and Nightshade's original origins. The Nightshade panels are great.

I was happy to see that DC introduced them very similar to their Charlton beginnings.

Peacemaker, Christopher Smith, was handled a lot better by Charlton IMO.
Here Christopher Smith tells Nora O'Rourke how his character was shaped by his parents.

I think Nightshade would work for Justice League Dark or you could even put her back into the Suicide Squad. I'd like to see either of those happen.

I recently re-read the few Capt Atom books I have from the sixties and there is something really enjoyable about them. And not just the Ditko art.

Thanks for the links. It's fascinating to read those old comics with some commentary.

Thanks. I'm finding a lot of links to their Charlton "action hero" days.

Here's a link to see some of Nightshade's back-up stories from Charlton's Captain Atom comics.
Jewelee (from Punch & Jewelee) makes a good archenemy for are "Darling of Darkness".

Nightshade is very skilled in many martial art techniques, having been trained by Judomaster's grown up sidekick Tiger.

Ever wonder how Sarge Steel lost his hand?

You can read some of his first issue at the link below, but I'll provide the page here.

Wow I had never heard of Midnight before. A straight up rip off of The Spirit. They didn't even try to disguise the copy. At least the Sentry had blonde hair.

No joke, when I first saw the cover my first thought was; "Nightshade teamed up with the Spirit? Neat!" then I read the caption box and was confused.

Turns out, Midnight was created as a replacement for the Spirit by the same man who would create Plastic Man years later; Jack Cole.

This comic is actually titled Special Wars Series #4

U.S. Sgt. Rip Jagger is stationed in the Pacific Islands during WWII and fights a group of Japanese warriors lead by Major Yoku. In the midst of this battle Jagger saves the daughter of a Pacific Island leader, the Sensi (an ancient master warrior). In appreciation Jaggar receives training in judo by Sensi's top aid Bushiri. Jaggar becomes quite proficient and joins the islanders in fighting the Japanese. The Sensi sees Jaggar becoming a symbol to the islanders and gives Jaggar a costume to wear to emphasize that status. Eventually Jaggar, as Judomaster, defeats Major Yoku and his army.

didn't DC try to bring these characters back together in a team book in the 90's? I can hardly remember it and it's driving me nuts....something like L.A.W. maybe.....I'm totally drawing a blank.
