Pax Americana has sparked interests for me regarding the Question, Blue Beetle, Peacemaker and Captain Atom, what's the recommended trades? I'm exclusively just mainly a hardcover person, i saw there are these "action heroes achieves" that seem to collect the following issues:
Collecting classic stories by master artist Steve Ditko from the pages of CAPTAIN ATOM #83-89, BLUE BEETLE #1-5, MYSTERIOUS SUSPENSE #1 and CHARLTON BULLSEYE #1, 2 and 5, plus the title story intended for BLUE BEETLE #6 (published in CHARLTON PORTFOLIO #9-10) as well as an 8-page Question story by Alex Toth and a foreword by Charlton's then-editor Dick Giordano.

Okay, I think I warmed up to Pax Americana a little bit, but imo a one-shof is not enough. And after reading this, I kinda want to see Punch & Jewelee make an appearance on Arrow now lol.

Drz that's probably the best way to be introduced to these characters...in their original stories. The 1987 Question series by Dennis O'Neil, Denys Cowan and Rick Magyar is collected in trades and should be checked out after the Charlton material.

I think I'm inclined to check out the Action Hero archives now, and see these guys in their original stories.

    A fun fact:
In Action Hero Archives edition #2 you'll find two unpublished comics by Charlton.
One was to be Blue Beetle #6 (BB meets the Spector) and the other was to be Captain Atom #90 ("Showdown in Sunuria")

Discovering this image of Captain Atom by John Bryne (in his younger days) makes me wish he
would've penciled a few issues of Cap's 1st DC series.

A really comicbook archeology treasure. Byrne never did any work with Captain Atom in the 80's in any of his series? Anyway I liked the work of Cary Bates in the character.

I do remember Cap showing up in the Super-books during one of the cross-overs, just cameos in Millenium, I think. Have to say I don't remember it being the most inspired rendition.

I don't remember Bryne doing any work with Captain Atom at DC back then, but I read he liked the character during Cap's Charlton years.

I think we all have to admit that Captain Atoms original look was not good at all. His costume looked like a mish-mash of 3 or 4 leftover costume ideas all rolled into one.

I'd have to disagree with you...If you're talking about this one below. I really like it and would've preferred seeing him like this in his original DC series.

The one thing I do applaud DC for is how they placed each Charlton character in the DC Universe.

Peacemaker in Checkmate was good. I just wished they would've made him more James Bond
    and not all crazy.

Still wished they would've done a Nightshade solo mini-series, but she was great in Suicide Squad.

Captain Atom and Blue Beetle in Justice League
