Batman, Robin and Drums

I'm not as impressed when these covers are variants. Almost by definition, most variants are going to be an homage to something.
It's much more interesting when a cover artist sneaks a cover reference by the readers without drawing attention to the fact. Such as John Byrne's pieta cover which looks a lot like Bob Oksner's that came before it--
The earliest panel showing Batman carrying a lifeless Robin--which probably inspired all the rest--from "The Case of the Honest Crook," BATMAN No. 5 (Spring '41):
Wonder Woman Hiketia, The Paybacks (Dark Horse), Civil War II

Superman and Power Girl circa 1983. 2 years before the iconic COIE cover from 1985.
Supergirl vs Superman
Three 6 Mafia lyrics ~ "We gon' hit'em with the left."
"Hit'em with the right."
Either way, Supes looks like a punk in both photos.
We need a new Brainiac/Luthor team up. With Superman in a bird cage.
