Just couldn't not include these in the list.
Two great homages to the Dark Knight Returns cover, in the return of Darkwing Duck.

About pieta covers, I made a distintion between the Pieta (upper case P) and pieta covers in general (lower case P). Fandom has taken to calling all covers with a similar pose "pieta covers." It's the convention. If someone want to start calling them "he ain't heavy covers," they should push that. While the covers might not all pay homage to or swipe from the Pieta, most seem to refer to, pay homage to or swipe from the other such pieta covers that came before them--in key ways that the scene is staged and the bodies are posed. I don't think George Perez, for one, is trying to get away with swiping from other artists without anyone knowing what he's up to. He wants fans and pros to spot the references.
About Frank Miller's Dark Knight cover, does this count as an homage?
Another variants of carrying someone who die/wonunded..

And finally the last of the Neal Adams throwbacks.
More Neal Adams classic throwback variants.
Idk how this one is going to go over with fans. I guess that's Damian, since he's the current Robin in the red and green suit.
Woah, pulled straight from Judas Contract. Very cool.
