The cover for ADITF is one I've seen emulated a few times in DC history. It strikes me as a nice tribute to the history and weight of the story and invokes a lot of emotion.





I'm sure there are others I haven't seen as well.

What are some other iconic covers that get repeatedly referenced or imitated in tribute? I'll post some more.

I actually think the last two are actually tributes to Crisis on Infinite Earths #7, but definitely a cool idea for a thread. I really like it when comic artists decide to draw homages to some of the classic covers of yore.

Yeah, the cover for that A DEATH IN THE FAMILY collection is really one case where the artist is directly referencing the Pieta.



Whereas, other so-called pieta covers--including COIE--are referencing pre-existing pieta covers which ultimately take their influence from the Pieta. Cover artist extraordinaire Alex Schomburg did a few different pieta covers in his illustrious career, including these--

IMO, unless it's staged in the same exact way as that famous piece of sculpture, I would say yes.
