    I think I'd change to the 2000s if I could re-vote. In hindsight, that has some of my favorite stories plus two of my favorite movies of all time

    Wow. In less than ten hours we've gone to:
    1980-1989 = 24 votes (+ 2)
    1990-1999 = 24 votes (+ 4)
    1970-1979 = 18 votes (+ 4)
    2010-current (which was 2014 then) = 10 votes (+ 1)
    2000-2009 = 7 votes (+ 1)

    Old thread (from 2014) I stumbled on (when I was looking for something else) that I thought might be worth bumping up.

    Previously, with 96 people having voted, poll results were:
    * 1980-1989 = 26 votes
    * 1990-1999 = 25 votes
    * 1970-1979 = 23 votes
    * 2010-current (which was 2014 then) = 11 votes
    * 2000-2009 = 9 votes

    Remember, this thread/poll WAS CREATED BEFORE Rebirth / BEFORE TOM KING'S RUN.

    Very little love on this poll for the Golden and Silver Age decades.

    Looking at this poll now, I decided not to bother voting since this is such an OLD poll. It doesn't seem fair after all this time to vote on it. And I guess I never voted when it first came up. If I had, I'd probably pick 1960 - 1969--although really any comics between 1939 and 1979 are my favourite Batman comics. But the 1960s is when I started reading, so those are closest to my heart.

    It's funny that Shadowcat picked these comics for examples of that period--as 'TEC 361 is one of the best comic books I ever bought. It's also the first issue of that title I ever bought.

But if you read the story--by Gardner Fox, Carmine Infantino and Sid Greene--then you know this story isn't like what you would have seen on television. There's a lot of features in the story that are intriguing and shocking.

    Nor would I say those other two issues have much to do with the T.V. show. They're not favourites--but in one you have Dr. Tzin-Tzin (who would qualify for membership in the League of Assassins later) and in the other you have the resolution of the Outsider storyline and the return of Alfred from death (in a Jason Todd like resurrection with elements of H.P. Lovecraft).

    The 2000s were a second golden age for Batman, a rare moment in time where literally everything he was in was fantastic. It’s likely the root of how large and fanatical his fanbase has grown to eclipse everyone else at DC. It was the time I got into him myself.
    Comics: You had Brubaker, Rucka, Loeb, Morrison, and Dini all turning in amazing work, Batman got a ton of character defining stories in this era
    Film: Nolan comes in and completely redefines what a superhero film can be, The Dark Knight goes down as one of the greatest films ever period.
    Video games: Arkham Asylum comes out and completely redefines what a superhero game can be. It also kills off the movie tie in game because companies realize they can make more money by actually putting effort into licensed properties.
    Animation: Justice League/JLU and The Batman are running concurrently so you get two Batman cartoons running at once and personally I loved watching both. JL obviously had the wider and longer term impact but The Batman was a great show imo

    No other character has had such a consistent thorough line of success as Batman had in the 00s. Only thing he don’t have was a TV show, but he was everywhere else. Don’t know if anyone can ever match that level of success, we’ll see what the 20s hold for Bats I guess.

    The 70s. That was when the batbooks struck the perfect balance between the darker elements of later decades and the more fun elements of earlier decades without taking either to an absurd extreme. More than any other decade, I can pick up a random comic from the 70s and be sure I'm going to have a good time. I do like most comics from the 80s, 90s, and latter half of the 2000s. Maybe the 2000s could have had a shot if it had been as good in the first half of the decade, but my god was 2000-2006 a dark time for Batman, with awful book after awful book. The bat-line really needed Morrison to come in and fix things after consistent crap from Officer Down to War Games.

    Looks like past me voted for the 70's. I think now I would go for the 90's.

    I always know when we have these polls, it becomes what is current.
    But even so the favorite period for me is the Golden Age.
    That was the foundation of everything that followed.

    In the modern era there is much to suggest of Batman in the 1970s.
    There were a lot of stories that focused heavily on detection, along with
    the relationship with the police.

    I always wonder how much of the voting is based on when people first started regularly following the character.

    I chose the 1970s, and that's when I first started regularly reading Batman and Detective Comics. Many times I would agree with you and go with the original, Golden Age version, but in Batman's case once Robin was introduced there were too many less-than-memorable stories. The 1970s returned the character to being a little more like how good he was in the late 1930s (before Robin's introduction).

    1980s-2000s were his strongest decades.
