Olyphant really would have had to have played Jesse 10-15 years ago; same with Goggins.

Goggins should play everyone and everything.
You are my favorite thing, Peter. My very favorite thing.

Jesse Custer is 23/24. All of these 45-50 yr old actors are not correct.

I love me some Jerome Flynn but he's an extremely left-field casting candidate. Yeah, he's got a lot of attitude and cool, but he's no Jesse Custer.

Holloway and Olyphant, on the other hand, are both decent choices; Olyphant especially has the gravitas from his stint in Deadwood down.

This. It's always best to understand your source material before writing an article like this.

I am so excited (and even optimistic)...I would like to see either Jason Clark or Justin Theroux as Jesse though

If it's Michael C. Hall I'm boycotting the show. What a bad idea!!!

    Yep.

All these guys are too old for the role.

Dominic Cooper may be in his mid thirties but he can pass for a guy in his late twenties at least.

That's the thing. He doesn't look anything like Jesse in Go.

The only person I've ever thought maybe is Clayne Crawford. Even he has to be in his mid-thirties now.

The real question is "Who do you get to play John Custer?"

With Jesse Custer I feel they might be better off casting not only a young actor but a relative unknown. Where they would want to cast a recognised actor is in the supporting cast, in particular The Saint of Killers and Herr Starr (who would really have the potential to walk away with the show anyway).

I admit I find Custer unappealing - another Ennis protagonist who hopelessly idealises male friendship, has a relentlessly strict yet flexible moral code, and combines needless levels of brutality with an unattractive blend of sentimentality and self-righteousness. Still, at least he's better than Tulip

Cassidy's rather more interesting, in my view - a brilliant portrayal of a thoroughly morally compromised man who has been given the opportunity to avoid consequences for his actions. His casting, in particular, is key.

I could see Flynn as Saint of Killers.

That is certainly a wrinkle when it comes to Jesse. He is obviously, in part, a poke at the "American Action Hero" by a writer who is not an American.

I don't know how that will work once it is out of the medium.
