Everyone got younger, though, so you can just have her be Maxima.

Her sexuality and her race changed as well though - IMHO, it's a lot more like the case of the two Wally West's than the case of the two Supermen.

If we can have two Wally West's then we can have two Maxima's! = )

Why is there still a big question / discussion about whether a Maxima from one recent continuity HAS TO BE THE SAME as a character named Maxima from a different, no-longer-used continuity?

It's one thing to say somebody wants her to be the same, but that doesn't in any way mean she MUST BE the exact same character.

Well, the confusion obviously stems from Rebirth.

Can there be more than one Wally West? Apparently.

IS Wonder Woman the god of War? Apparently... NOT.

Can there be more than one Superman? The jury is still out, but most likely not...

WAS Hal Jordan Parallax? Or was he not? Unknown.


So, with all this in mind, hence why everyone is a bit confused as to if there can be more than one Maxima.

On the other hand... since Old Maxima has been dead for a long time, then perhaps New Maxima will automatically be THE Maxima, since the competition has been gone for such a long time?

I'm not so sure he's so much homophobic as he's imperceptive and pig-headed - he had made his own head-canon and he then preceded to do whatever it takes to justify that. He may very well be this... misguided, only when it comes to the character of Maxima. I've seen similar odd jumping through hoops against logic with other characters, considering other issues.

It's so sad that when an LGBT issue comes up in an unrelated medium, that's almost all that people talk about. That's why I think it's better that these kinds of issues be left out of popular culture.

PRGirl describes being homosexual as a "craze" -- either declaring gay people to be mentally ill, psychologically deficient -- crazy -- or declaring that homosexuality is simply a passing fad that isn't real. She then declares that homosexuality should be "left out of popular culture" -- flat out saying that homosexuality isn't real, doesn't exist and shouldn't be acknowledged. These are the sentiments of a bigot.

There's also the fact that it's simply not true. Homosexuality is present in nearly every species on this planet, widespread among birds, mammals, sea life and primates. It's not a passing fashion. It is a biological fact of existence that creatures can be gay. Nine out of ten pairings among giraffes exist between males.

PRGirl is perhaps a bigot with a head-canon, but a bigot nonetheless.
