I'm happy they are separated (room to grow outside of a unstable relationship) but still a huge part of me loves seeing them together. James Asmus showed how fun and flirty they are even when broken up, and in the end I want them to grow old together.
WOOO, thank goodness somebody restarted this thread...I had an enormous panic attack at first, lol! Is there any way we can save or repost all of the wonderful art and links from the original thread?
Glad to see all that made the jump to the new CBR- of course my first new post would have to be in the Romy thread
Just a few picture contributions.. I suck for not being able to credit all the original artists, I'm sorry. Hopefully they know how awesome they are

I want Gambit and Rogue to get back together. marvel doesn't have any good romances anymore.
Agreed. All the more to love with this discussion.
I'm leaning toward two possiblities. I think Marvel will not confirm the first so I'll likely have to live with it being the last.
#1 - Her absorption of the Hecate? millions minds nearly killed her by basically almost wiping her away. That's why when Hope saved her - all the old aborptions had to be wiped out. Doing that really messed with Rogue's head and her understanding of herself. I think she "lost" all sense of self and her feelings to an extent. She had her memories but not any real attachement to them yet. Sort of like what she did to Ms. Marvel. At first she felt nothing but her anger at Mystique from right before she was shot. That explains her lashing out and trying to kill Mystique. The she goes out to "find" herself because of this. So basically she is "reliving" her memories to become attached to them again. (Something that I believe happend to Carol too but she doesn't want to admit because then she would actually have to deal with the fact she really isn't close to her family because of her issues not something done to her). ( I also belive that if there is going to ever be a time she ran into Sentry and had an comfort fling, this was when it happened. ) So Rogue starts at the beginning and goes through her feelings for Mystique, beaking away, her time in Australia, and then her crush on Magneto. The problem is she gets cut off right there because of Danger and never gets any farther. She knows she has feelings for Remy but never gets to remembering them from the point on because she's now been dragged back into the X-Men and dealing with their issues. So she's stuck on her crush with Magneto and not what happened after (which is why she never really confronts him as she's not really addressed those memories and feelings) and AoX just re-enforces that. She knows she moved on and why but emotionally she's back at late teen years and is acting on those feelings. So basically she's now emotionally acting out her late teen emotions. Her crushes, her gratitude to Xavier (becoming a teacher like him), her anger at how isolated she felt and how mutants are treated (which sort of explains her sudden angry focus on Wanda). She's pushing Remy away because she's not progressed far enough emotionally to deal with that attraction honestly. Its too big and too permanent. She made it only so far and she's reliving her youth with freedom she didn't have then. Maybe thats a good thing and she come out of it stronger but so far the growing pains have been pretty extreme. From dating a guy who once tortured her to acting like Wolverine and stabbing first and jumping to conclusions.
#2 is the simplified version of gaining control has given Rogue a chance to explore what she didn't in her youth and she's pushed Remy away because she's just feels the need to test her freedom first to be sure. That just makes Rogue more immature than I once thought she had gotten to and doesn't explain her sudden anger and lashing out now.

So, I'd like to hear everyone else's opinion on this subject if you have a moment: Why do you suppose Rogue always pushes Gambit away? I may be wrong, but I'm under the impression that he will always love her, and would do just about anything if she'd admit she (still) loves him too. It's obvious from the Gambit series that she still has feelings for him, but apparently they're not as strong as his and/or she refuses to act on them.
Why do you think that is? (And no blaming bad editors who decide to throw 180° angst-ridden plot twists to keep Anna & Remy apart- enough writers have done it that I have to say that Rogue's reticence must have an actual cause).
I love the pairing. its one of the reasons she and him are in my top 5. I love them seperate as well.
