A few days ago I thought I heard about some kind of television recognition ceremony for RBG, but it had to be different this year due to the Pandemic. It was supposed to aire in the next week or two.

IMO RBG is the most painful entry in this memoriam thread this year. A noble fighter for the people is now gone.

When I was a kid back in the '70s, the two sports book we kids had to read wereThe Boys of Summer and Brian's Song. Sayers was a hero in the latter book and an icon of integration for my generation. Of course, he was an outstanding football player who appeared to shake off tacklers at will.

    RIP

One of the great running backs in the NFL. When looking at his obituary, I forgot how he was both a halfback and return specialist. RIP Mr Sayers

Los Angeles Dodger's legend Jay Johnstone has died at age 74 of COVID. He hit an iconic pinch hit home run in the Series against the Yankees, allowing the Dodgers to eventually prevail. He also played for nearly every team in baseball it seems, prominently for the Angels. He was known as a prankster, and became a successful color man.

Add fellow 78 year old and 70s icon Mac Davis to the list on the same day. He was a country crossover star and Elvis songwriter and actor.
