Larry Flynt, The Porn King Who Founded Hustler, Dies At 78

To be honest, I thought Flynt had died years ago.

He was super friendly, well spoken and stayed several hours after his talk ended just to hang and talk with us. It was kind of funny because there was another workshop but a lot of us piano players skipped it just to hang with with him. I remember one kid said he did not think he was that good of a player and didnt know if playing in a professional manor was for him. Chick told him who cares if he goes pro or makes money by playing. Playing brought the kid a lot of joy and helped him and that was all that mattered, who cares if any one else liked it. he told the young man to stick with it, even if all he did was play in his living room to make himself smile. I also met him one other time in 2003.

I have a lot of his music and listen to it often.

Now, I adore these majestic creatures, and I dont mind having its trunk ruffle my hair, but now it's knocking over the furniture. There's not enough space! Do something!

For a second I thought you meant the inker Mark Morales, who frequently works with Jim Cheung. I met both of them both in Artists' Alley at C2E2 back in 2015.

There are less and less of them in Africa, so I suppose the elephants die more than they should…

Fine. I guess I'll just do an express send-off. Radio jockey, Rush Limbaugh has passed (age 70).

I'll say he wasn't afraid to speak his mind. He received the Medal of Freedom (technically speaking) He sure loved drugs. If anyone could convince others that - not so much intentionally as passively via his everyday conduct on the job - what many would call the "better angels of our nature" stood no chance against the primal, unflinching tribalism that drives members of our species to brain others to death via repeated bashing of head against an angular rock, it was good ol' Rush.....Though, now that I think about it, he may have sincerely seen the latter as the former, and sought in his own way to promote it. <shrug> Anyways, Rush Limbaugh was........recognizable. RIP.

Limbaugh was a transformative figure in American popular culture. He was a dedicated radio guy who changed the AM side of things from music (where it had lost much of its audience to FM) into all talk, and who changed the news/talk format from the traditional high-brow snooze-fest into a coarse shock-jock venue, dramatically boosting its audience. He was of course selling snake oil, but he sold it very well, and the radio industry (as well as Limbaugh personally) profited greatly from it.

    Can't argue with that either.

Legendary Serbian Singer-Songwriter Djordje Balasevic Dies Of Coronavirus at 66.
One of the greatest storytellers in music.
    R.I.P. legend.

His songs always had something to say. They were cautionary, moral, critical tales often charged with deep emotions or humorous tone, and written like poems.
To my knowledge, he only wrote one song in English, and while I was certain Youtube had English subtitles to many of his tunes, now I can't find a single one. Instead, here is his most famous song (The Story of Vasa Ladachky) performed by Eurovision Contest participant Tajci, that do have subtitles.
