Lamont Dozier passed away. He wrote, or co-wrote (as part of Holland-Dozier-Holland), something like 18 #1 pop hits and countless more on the R&B chart for some of Motown's biggest stars. He also was a recording artist in his own right.

H-L-H have to rank with Lennon and McCartney as the most popular songwriters of their generation. Favorite song? Maybe I Can't Help Myself, but it's really hard to choose among all of their gems.

After they left Motown, they started their own record labels, like Invictus. The hits were fewer, but still happening. Like this one by Freda Payne.

RIP to "Judo" Gene LeBell, a famous martial artist and stuntman/fight choreographer. He of the (in)famous Steven Segal incident). Rhonda Rousey's MMA judo/grappling coach. He was 89.

Sad indeed. Admittedly, the only thing I had seen her in was the movie Volcano with Tommy Lee Jones from 1996.

Yeah, I heard about her crashing and burning in the wreck as her car traveling at a high rate of speed went through a home in a residential neighborhood. It sounded bad at that time, but I was hoping she would recover.
