For 20 years, I saw him on almost a daily basis on TCM. Unlike other movie channel hosts, he knew his subject backwards and forwards. His fantastic book on the Oscars was my introduction to him back in the '80s, BTW.

Robert Osborne almost single handedly gave me my love of film. I don't think I would have gotten into the classics, or rather "The Essentials" if it weren't for his knowledgeable and enthusiastic introductions on TCM.

The word "legend" gets thrown around a lot, but it's well deserved there. One of the original greats who put rock music on the map.

I knew this day was coming, but it still hurts. Time to listen to my Chess box set of his music for the umpteenth time...
