    Yeah, that's just bizarre.

A bad day in a bad year: Former NBA All-Star and long term Portland Trail Blazer, Cliff "Uncle Cliffy" Robinson has died at only 53 years of age. Health problems in recent years included a stroke in 2017 and a tumor in his jaw a year later.

A shame. As a Phillies fan, I hated the Mets, but Seaver was one hell of a pitcher.

"Tom Terrific" sure gave the Mets a great run. I hated the Mets back then because they overtook the Leo Durocher coached Chicago Cubs to take the 1969 NL pennant and then they were the underdog winners of the World Series against the Orioles. Looking over the news stories I forgot that Nolan Ryan was also on that Mets team back then. RIP to a Hall of Famer and fighter for players' rights.

As a very young Met fan of the '70s, he was my favorite player (with the exception of Willie Mays for his last season in '73 - and my first as a regular follower of the team).

The greatest pitcher of his era and probably everyone's lifetime here at CBR, he will be greatly missed.

    RIP

Yes, he was one of the greats. He died of complications of Lewy body Dementia, Lyme disease, and COVID. Lewy is a protein in the brain that in this case builds up into "bodies", and is very similar to dementia or Alzheimer's and was one of the things that caused poor Robin Williams to kill himself.

That was my first full Mets season too! I have to admit I became a Mets fan after I saw a picture of Jim Fregosi on a Mets poster, he was gorgeous back then! Of course in the succeeding years my father never let me forget that the Mets traded away Ryan for "Frig" (who was injured for much of the '73 season and didn't play much that year IIRC).

RIP Tom Seaver. One of the greats.
