Alan Young died at 96 yesterday. He played the owner of TV's famous talking horse, Mr. Ed.

Also the voice of Uncle Scrooge, in Duck Tales as well as the voice of 7-Zark-7, in one of my favorites, Battle of the Planets.

Of course, who can forget him as Rod Taylor's friend and neighbor, in George Pal's The Time Machine.

I'm probably one of the few here that remember Mr Ed. It was cleverly written for it's time. I can't forget the image of Mr Ed sliding into home when he wanted to try out for the Dodgers for manager Leo Durocher.

There are not many who remember
They say a handful still survive

But we are around, of course, of course.

I remember Young from George Pal's "The Time Machine"

Watched Mr. Ed when I was a kid and in re-runs. Alan Young had one of those personalities that made you wish he was a member of your family.

Watched it in syndication, well before the advent of cable channels and youtube. It hadn't left prime time that much before I saw it.

I watched reruns of Mister Ed as far back as the early '70s. Occasionally, I still see it on Antennae TV. His radio program from the '40s, however, was his best work, IMO.

As someone who grew up loving Ducktales & Mickey's Christmas Carol, its sad to see Alan Young go. May he rest in peace.

Mel Lazarus, creator of the comic strips Miss Peach and Momma just passed away. I've only seen a panel or two from Momma; but, Miss Peach was a deligthfully thoughtful strip somewhat in the vein of Peanuts. It was adapted into a series of holiday specials, with the characters portrayed via muppet-like puppets.

I think it's about time for a remake of Death Takes a Holiday, so 2016 can have a break.
