Yes, it was Eliot Gould and Telly Savalas who stole the movie, but Holbrook provided the bad guy the movie needed.
This inspires me to go look up Capricorn One on Tubi or wherever I can find it. I remember going to see this in the theater. And Holbrook was also a corrupt police lieutenant in the Dirty Harry movie Magnum Force who assembled a secret vigilante hit squad of young officers

That's right, I vaguely remember seeing that.

Of all of Mr. Plummer's many roles, to me, he'll always be the Shakespeare loving Klingon General Chang from Star Trek VI. RIP.

Just saw that when I went online this afternoon.

I believe he and his wife were still living in the town where I live (Weston, CT).

I loved him in this...maybe not quite as good a Trek villain as Ricardo Montalban's Khan but it's definitely up there. He looked like he was enjoying it too. I remember seeing a film years ago called Silent Partner where he was this ruthless, sadistic robber. A far cry from Captain Von Trapp in Sound of Music. He probably did the part deliberately.

As to Sound of Music he really got along very well with Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music and they remained friends all those year since. In fact I've come across a lot of cast members posting fond memories of working on the the film with him.

"The world has lost a consummate actor today and I have lost a cherished friend," she told NBC News in a statement. "I treasure the memories of our work together and all the humor and fun we shared through the years. My heart and condolences go out to his lovely wife Elaine, and his daughter Amanda."

Rest in peace, Mr. Plummer. You are now in the undiscovered country from whose bourn no traveller returns.
Take my dreams, childish and weak at the seams
Please don't analyze, please just be there for me
