In keeping with my previous post, I read that the tribute concert to Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins was great, with many contributions by his compeers and friends in the trade.

That was a moment, wasn't it? A bit of a tear in my eye when I watched it.

RIP to a lady who seemed to be a constant in a world of change, and an honorable person.

Seeing his son take the stage and preform was amazing!

The only British monarch almost all of us ever knew (my own parents did book reports as nine-year-olds for her coronation, but don't recall George VI), I thought her majesty was a pretty nice girl.

It's going to be such a quiet day in the UK tomorrow.

The closest the U.S.A. ever came to something like this was maybe when FDR died, but he only served as President for 12 years. Elizabeth was Queen for 70 years.

Though, of course, FDR was a far more significant personage on the world stage (as can be said for any president when you think about it since the death of George III).

    R.I.P HRM.

What an extraordinary reign of 70 years, 214 days, longest in British history and almost the longest in all history for any monarch. Also longest marriage of any English monarch at 73 years and 139 days, a feat which impresses me even more.
Every day is a gift, not a given right.

CNN anchor Bernard Shaw dead at 82

    By Veronica Stracqualursi, CNN

Updated 7:49 PM ET, Thu September 8, 2022

Former CNN anchor Bernard Shaw died Wednesday at a Washington, DC, hospital of pneumonia unrelated to Covid-19, Shaw's family announced Thursday. Shaw was 82.

Shaw was CNN's first chief anchor and was with the network when it launched on June 1, 1980. He retired from CNN after more than 20 years on February 28, 2001.

During his storied career, Shaw reported on some of the biggest stories of that time -- including the student revolt in Tiananmen Square in May 1989, the First Gulf war live from Baghdad in 1991, and the 2000 presidential election.
