I heard about Kirstie Alley's death while listening to a George Takei interview on NPR. Alley's death was a news break, and the Takei interview was taped, but still it was a lot of Trek for NPR at 3am.

Is that the interview where George Takei promised to stop talking about William Shatner? Their feud has lasted for decades

It was mostly concerning the show Allegiance based on his family's interment.

But that doesn't mean ten-year-old Shatner had nothing to do with that!

RIP to P-22, who died on Saturday of euthanasia at age 12.

Also RIP to Stuart Margolin, Angel of "The Rockford Files" among many other credits. Also "Love, American Style", a 60s-early 70s show that also featured actors such as Harrison Ford, (for a mind blown, watch Han Solo giving legal advice to Caine in a jail cell from the show "Kung-Fu"). Angel was always a great character in Rockford Files, sad to see him go.

I grew up loving the Pittsburgh Steelers and have mourned each of those who played for the fabled teams of the 1970s and have passed away. RIP to Franco Harris.

RIP Mike Hodges, director of two of my favorite movies, the Caine "Get Carter" and "Flash Gordon" (1980----Flash-Ah-Ah-Ah, Save Every One Of Us).

Yeah, back in the '70s, the big running backs (at least when it came to name recognition) were O.J., Larry Csonka, and Franco. I wasn't a true football fan yet (that wasn't until the early '80s), but I'm old enough to remember the Immaculate Reception and how wonderful it was.

Legendary soul music producer Thom Bell has passed away at 79. He wrote many hits along with Linda Creed, songs like "You Are Everything" and "Betchy By Golly, Wow" (later covered by Prince). If you see him listed as producer on an album from the 70s, just buy it. It's gonna be good.
This is one of my favorite tracks by him, though not as well known as other songs he did with the Spinners.

That is a great song, though my favorite Spinner (and Thom Bell) song is I'll Be Around. Bell was indeed a standout producer with a very rich list of fantastic songs he worked on.

    RIP
An interesting factoid about "I'll Be Around": The suits at Atlantic records felt it made a great... B-Side for the Spinner's first single after arriving at the lable from Motown.
It ended up being a much bigger hit than the A-Side, "How Could I Let You Get Away.2
