Denny Crum, whose 30 years as the coach of the Louisville men's basketball team included 2 national championships, has has passed away.

I was a big Louisville fan back in 1986 when they won the title with freshman "Never Nervous" Pervis Ellison and loved Denny Crum. So this is some pretty sad news to learn today.

In the early years of the World Poker Tour being on TV (well, cable), I remember seeing Mr. Brunson competing in events. RIP.

The movie I think of when I think of Jim Brown is 100 Rifles with Raquel Welch and Burt Reynolds. They use to air that a lot on The 4:30 Movie on channel 7 (WABC-TV) out of New York City when I was younger, split up over two days. (The 4:30 Movie ran for 90 minutes in the afternoon prior to the 6:00 p.m. broadcast of Eyewitness News with Bill Beutel and Roger Grimsby.)

I think one of Jim Brown's craziest cameo appearances was in Tim Burton's "Mars Attacks". He was also good in the Dirty Dozen.

I saw that movie for the first time on The 4:30 Movie, too. In fact, it was the first time I saw the great Jim Brown in a movie, come to think of it. Of course, Raquel doing that semi-shower outside was the most memorable scene for some reason.

As a player, he's kind of like Sandy Koufax to me. They were both retired sports legends for years by the time I started liking sports in the early '70s, yet were only in their thirties. They weren't "old" yet like Mickey Mantle, Arnold Palmer, and Y.A. tittle who were then in their forties.

    RIP

The latter is easily my favorite with him, but the former movie just might be my second favorite.

That would be the other one in contention for number two for me.
