That was when he was still "Touch" Connors, I believe.

BTW, my father and maternal grandfather actually bought coats that resembled the one he usually wore on the show because they liked it so much. Yes, we were a Mannix household when I was a kid.

Yes, I almost forgot he went by "Touch" Conners for a while. I remember the scene in Day the World Ended when his character decided to make a play for the young female lead Lori Nelson (who would also be menaced by the Creature from the Lost Lagoon in another film. Conners girlfriend in the movie was a tough as nails stripper named Ruby. He tossed her off a cliff to get rid of her. I think he said something like "Happy landings, baby"

Here's the trailer for the movie

Lori Nelson was so yummy in the latter film (and starred my favorite sci-fi actor of my youth - John Agar), though I have always known it as Revenge of the Creature.

What was John Agar better in: Revenge of the Creature, or Tarantula?

Have to go with Tarantula, but that may be because it's the first time I saw him in anything (I was so young then that gorgeous Mara Corday didn't register anything at all with me ).

I think he was the same in all of them. He didn't have a lot of range as I recall. To go off on another tangent about the Creature movies, I thought he looked scarier in The Creature Walks Among Us. They got rid of the full body creature suit, probably for budget reasons, and he was in a two piece outfit that convicts would wear. The guy in the suit on land was of a bigger build than Ricou Manning (had to look that up) who played him when he was in the water. Interestingly enough, IMDB says actor Don McGowan was the Creature in some of the scenes where he was turned into an air breather.

He didn't, but he seemed very likable and authoritative when I was a youngster.

Don McGowan was the sheriff in another movie I loved as a kid - The Werewolf. No, it wasn't great, but the scene in the jail cell really scared me back then.

Just got an alert on my phone that John Hurt passed away at 77. Farewell to John Merrick (The Eelephant Man), the War Doctor (Doctor Who) and the first victim of the Chest Burster (Alien).

First time I saw him was in The Naked Civil Servant on our local PBS station. Man, what a terrific actor. BTW, another great performance of his was in 1984 as Winston Smith.

You mean Barbara Hale., of course. First time I saw her might have been on a rerun of Perry Mason almost 50 years ago, but I certainly put the name to her face on the old Amana refrigerator commercials of the '70s that she did.

Very lovely and a good actress, she was doing leading-lady parts right up to the time she switched to television.
