Never saw him in concert but I did see him in Chicago. One day I was walking down Wabash towards the Kroch & Brentano's bookstore which I always liked to visit after getting off the South Shore Train. A limo pulled up in front of the store just as I got there and a well dressed gentleman came out. I thought he looked familiar and then I went inside there was a book signing table set up for Chuck Berry. I wish I had bought a copy. I knew some of his work but wasn't really knowledgeable. Years later I saw the documentary Hail,Hail Rock and Roll and wish I had bought that book.

Came home from work and got hit with a double whammy, first learned Chuck Berry had passed and then as I was catching up on news I saw that Bernie Wrightson's wife posted on faceboook that Bernie had succumbed to brain cancer.

    RIP Chuck Berry

    RIP Bernie Wrightson

legends both who filled my life with awe and wonder. You will be missed.

    So sad about Bernie.
Think he deserves his own thread, this being a comic book community and all.

A legend indeed. More than influential : the kind of artist who truly changed the world. RIP.

Shoot! I liked most of the game show series that he created. May he create great shows wherever he is now.
    RIP Mr. Barris.

I can recall The Dating Game and The Newlywed Show on ABC during the late '60s before it became much more risque in syndication. I also can say I watched the first episode of The Gong Show on NBC. Still, my favorite of his shows was Treasure Hunt.

Ooh, I loved the Gong Show! Poor Chuck Barris. He was so funny he would crack himself up on camera!

But, Mr. Barris is another one of those famous people whom I thought I had heard had died years ago!

I loved the Gong Show and it's wacky cast like the Unknown Comic and Gene Gene the Dancing Machine!
