He had a unique and instantly recognisable voice. He will be missed.

First time I saw him was in Man of a Thousand Faces as a very young Lon Chaney, Jr. back in the '70s and Auntie Mame in the '80s. Never saw 77 Sunset Strip until very recently, since it either stopped airing in the NYC area in rerun form by the '70s or it aired too late for me to catch it. For the most part, though, I knew him as the very, very, very lucky husband of Ann-Margret.

Another loss in the world of sports, Jimmy Piersall passed away at the age of 87. His book about his struggles after having a nervous breakdown in 1952 became the film "Fear Strikes Out". I remember his brief stint doing play by play with Harry Caray ....but for the White Sox at old Comiskey. Harry Caray had to beat it out of St. Louis and WGN already had their spot filled with Jack Brickhouse as I recall. Harry and Jimmy didn't pull any punches in assessing the performance of the team and that got them in trouble with management.

They were married 50 years and survived some serious health issues...she had that really bad fall from a stage platform and he had dealt with myasthenia gravis for decades. One of the few enduring Hollywood marriages.

They were definitely the exception to the Hollywood rule, IM.

As a Met fan, I would be remiss in not mentioning his home-run trot around the bases backward. As for Fear Strikes Out, it's one of the best baseball films all-time.

Been watching 77 SUNSET STRIP on ME-TV for the past few months.
Smith also wrote about 10 episodes for show and one for SURFSIDE 6.
As a side note BATMAN Co-Creator Bill Finger co-wrote the "Positve, Negative Caper".

WOW. Smith was married to Ann-Margret for 50 years. Lucky Guy.

    Adam West has passed away

Was hoping to see him at LFCC next month, but it wasn't to be.

    May he rest in peace.

There's a special thread regarding this already, but I would like to wish my condolences to the family of a man I have been a fan of for almost 50 years.

Before Affleck, before Bale, before Clooney, Kilmer, Conroy and Keaton, Adam West WAS Batman. He will certainly be missed. Rest In Peace.
