    RIP A.D. Washington

As senior VP of promotion at MCA Records, Washington helped usher in the New Jack Swing era in the late ‘80s/early ‘90s with Guy and its frontman Teddy Riley. While at the label, Washington also worked on projects by acts such as New Edition, Patti LaBelle, Bobby Brown, Mary J. Blige, Jody Watley, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Jodeci and Heavy D.

    Awww, man.

Just recently watched an episode of the Andy Griffith Show that featured him:

There's not much left of the Andy Griffith Show.

Ron Howard for certain, but I can't think of anyone else.

Can't say I'm surprised, surprised, surprised, but still a damn shame. He was hilarious, but could do the rare dramatic scenes very well, too. When i heard him sing The Impossible Dream as a little kid, I honestly thought it was someone else - no way that booming voice could be his. On a comic-book note, the first time I ever heard the word "Shazam!" was on Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C. (which I still watch, as well as The Andy Griffith Show, om MeTV)

She was certainly one of the better artists from that time. Too bad her career wasn't longer than it was.

Besides being a fine voice artist, she actually looked like a blonde version of lovely Daphne.

The first time I saw Keely Smith was on The Donny and Marie Show singing Feelings 40 years ago. Fortunately, she was a lot better when she was singing a good song. Obviously, her great recordings with ex-husband Louis Prima were her most famous, but I also liked her solo stuff and duets with others (i.e. Frank Sinatra).

As for Dick Enberg, I used to watch him on Sport Challenge back in the '70s when I was a kid and also saw him on numerous sports telecasts over the years. Never controversial or flashy, he just did his job more-than competently and didn't try to be part of the story.
