Dolores is a big loss. Her voice and range was unbelievable. RIP, Dolores.

Sad to hear about Keith Jackson. Truly a unique announcer. R.I.P.
Ursula K. Le Guin, one of the greatest writers of the past century, certainly in the genre of Science Fiction and Fantasy, has died on January 22 in her home in Oregon, surrounded by family members. She was 88 years of age.
Her works were not only celebrated (Le Guin received five Locus Awards, four Nebulas, two Hugos, was declared a "living legend" by the U.S. Library of Congress and inducted into the Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame), but also influenced great authors such as Neil Gaiman and Salman Rushdie. Her most celebrated works are her Earthsea series, as well as novels such as "The Left Hand of Darkness" and "The Dispossessed".
Gospel legend Edwin Hawkins died.
I'd post his big crossover hit, but that would be in bad taste in this case.
This is more fitting:
Southern Soul diva Denise Lasalle also passed, aged 78.
One of those singers who had one international hit with a bit of a novelty record ("My Toot Toot") but never really stopped working, cranking out very good blues and soul albums on Malaco records.
Jazz giant Hugh Masekela succumbed to cancer. I saw him in concert when I was a teenager, opening for Paul Simon along with Miriam Makeba and Ladysmith Black Mbazo.
