Ah, I loved "My Toot Toot"!

It's a bit of a zydeco jam, isn't it? Probably played a lot in New Orleans for carnival.

One of the first comics I ever read was Beetle Bailey. I even recall the early '60s King Features cartoon shorts that aired on WPIX during the early '70s (around the same time I started reading the funnies).

The versions I recall are from Rockin' Sidney and Fats Domino.

WPIX Channel 11! Ah, a fellow NYC/tri-state area kid!

Can't remember if I would get Beetle Bailey in the New York Daily News or the Newark Star Ledger. (Possibly both.)

Might even have been in Newark Evening News before that paper stopped publication in 1972.

Yep. Born in Brooklyn and moved to Long Island when I was 2 (I lived on the island until '92).

Definitely the Daily News for my family, Major.

    What about Newsday?
(Though we didn't get that where I grew up in New Jersey.)

We started getting Newsday on Sundays around 1976 and daily by the '80s (while continuing with the Daily News). I can recall getting the Long Island Press on Sundays during the first half of the '70s, FWIW.

    What a great voice.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!
