I especially remember him from Jacobs Ladder opposite Tim Robbins. It wasn't a large role but his acting made me feel emotion because he was so good at playing this caring doctor going the extra mile. He was funny too in it, breaking Tim Robbins out of a psychiatric ward for vets. RIP.

The first time I ever saw him was on the commercials for the Broadway play Gemini back in the early '70s ("It's gonna be some party!") My favorite role of his? Believe it or not, it was on Tales from the Darkside where he plays a gambler who bets the Devil his soul he lives beyond his appointed checkout time. It amazed me at the time to see a great actor like him on a cheap (but oh so fun!) show giving an award-caliber performance.

Benson was where I first saw him, but Odo was my favorite Rene role. His interactions with Quark were priceless.

Farewell Charlie X, the original kid with anger issues:

Walker as Charlie X was so good. I can remember as a little kid feeling so bad for him at the end of the episode, despite his misdeeds.

    RIP to both of them

Allee Willis passed away a few days ago.

You may not have heard about it, but you have heard her music thousands of times. She wrote and co-wrote songs for the likes of Cindy Lauper, the Pet Shop Boys, Bonnie Raitt, Gladys Knight and Patti Labelle.

Her biggest successes were "I'll be there for you" by the Rembrandts (known as the theme of some sitcom called "Friends" or something) and the biggest hits by Earth Wind and Fire: September and Boogie Wonderland. She also wrote the score for the Broadway version of The Color Purple and received some of the biggest awards in the music industry.

Allee was a unique character. She also worked as a filmmaker and ran and curated a museum of kitsch. She is survived by her longtime girlfriend, Prudence.

"Peanuts" TV show producer Lee Mendelson died on Christmas Day. He also wrote the lyrics to the Peanuts Christmas song, "Christmas Time Is Here" which has been covered by the likes of Patti Austin and Nancy Wilson.

First heard his voice, not on the official unveiling of the classic short in September of 1973 one Saturday morning, but the Friday before on the preview show hosted by Avery Schreiber and Jack Burns. My generation (and later ones) learned a lot due to his work and the others who contributed to Schoolhouse Rock.

I was surprised to know he was on The Merv Griffin Show. I remember him fondly on that program, but never connected the dots.

    RIP
