It wasn't my intention to. When I say I don't like One Direction (for example), I don't expect to convince a bazillion fans that they're all wrong. It doesn't matter that I only hear bland, production-line, empty noise. They hear the greatest songs ever (pun intended). Cos people like what they like. Sure, sometimes it's harder to explain than others, but that's just the way things are.

You see Soule's Diana as... Well, I don't know, but you like her. And that's cool. But I see her as a series of speeches-by-numbers and vapid conversations that never feel like a complete person, and who always sounds so very... written. And that's one direction I don't want see Diana go in.

Ok so I'm not sure if you were trying to bookend your post with this "one direction" comment at the end and the one about the group at the start....but I chuckled

Why would you want that? Why would anyone want that?

Seriously, I'd almost want a bad characterisation of Diana over Soule's utterly generic Wonder Woman. At least, with a bad characterisation, there's still something to feel about the character, even if those feelings are wholly negative. But Diana as the empty shell Soule writes her as... That's so much worse.
    Interesting point.
If ten years of recording The Young and the Restless for my mother have taught me anything, it's that characters in serial dramas are always happily in love...until they're not
