We have one of the most recognizable fictional newspaper and publisher in the world with the "Daily Bugle" and J.J. Jameson... let's call it the "New York Bulletin!"

Yeah but that's just in Manhattan, Battleworld covers an entire planet of alternate realities and alternate New Yorks.

Anyway, this sounds wonderfully kooky, seem to recall Marvel doing something similar with Civil War.

Battleworld is an entire planet (does not "cover it"). The Daily Bugle would still be an option because there are people outside the US that new The New York Times or The Washington Post. Any big name newspaper could have readers from around the world. The same could be said for The Daily Bugle. However, with multiple alternative worlds merged together, trademark and copyright laws would be a b*tch to enforce or even to unravel. Maybe that's why one person/group is selected (or allowed) to run the an entire domain. Worldwide communication is limited and export and import regulations are different for each domain. So the Daily Bugle of one domain would advocate to block imports of alternate versions of the Daily Bugle from other domains.

Pretty fun gimmick to see when it starts. I always like it when there are "fictional" dailies going on for a certain period of time and they treat it like the real deal.
