Hey, there, people! I'm reposting this from the Games forum, as I feel that this board is where one finds the majority of this board's mythology fans.
So, most of you have seen me mention a tabletop RPG called "Scion?" A game where you play the children of the Gods fighting against the Titans in the modern age?
It's a great game, but it has some immense problems in its gameplay system. Well a few years ago? A husband and wife team known as John and Anne Ruthven built their own web site, sharing all their hard work at fixing and improving Scion's system. Anne, in particular, is an incredibly talented researcher with a deep passion for mythology. Even if you have no interest in playing Scion, it's worth visiting their site just to read Anne's blogs about all things mythological. John has been playing tabletop games for a very long time and has a real talent for game design. Together, they're an incredible team.
Well, now? They've decided to use their amazing talents to create their very own mythology-based RPG. The game is called "Hero's Journey." It's a game set in the modern world where somehow monotheism never happened and the old gods remained active in the world. You play one of the God-Touched, a chosen champion of one of the gods.
John and Anne are launching a Kickstarter this Wednesday, May 21. If you have any interest in the game, and you have some extra bucks to spare? Please consider sending some support for this project.
If you'd like to see their Scion web site? It will remain active until June 1. At which point, it will go away. You can find it at http://www.gothambynight.com/scion/index.htm
Their new site for Hero's Journey, which does contain more information on the game, plus Anne's mythology blog, and a forum for discussing the game, can be found at http://www.herosjourneyrpg.com/#hometab
So? Go ahead and check it out. I promise you John and Anne are worth your time. They said they'll be posting a link to the Kickstarter once it goes live on May 21.
