Is the Marvel essentials line discontinued? Bums me out if I can never get any further collected editions of Peter Parker or Web of Spiderman.

trying to be nicer
There was a rumor but a higher up at Marvel (can't remember who) denied it. There are some on preorder on bookdepository but when I search DD v4 for example on amazon the isbn showed a 2012 edition which isn't available (but it will come out in 21 days according to BD).
But I wouldn't be surprised if spin off series like Web of wouldn't continue now that we have the Epic collections.

hey, does anyone know of an OOP listing for Showcase Presents/Essentials?
Thanks.
I thought I had these in the stickied Intro to Collected Editions thread, but I must have forgot to put them in. Anyway its a comprehensive up to date list of both Essential and Showcase Editions, including if the books are OOP or not(books with used or out of stock are OOP)
Essentials
Showcase Presents
I hope Marvel will release essential daredevil volume 7, which should lead right to Miller's debuts as a writer. I own volumes 1-5, and I will buy volume 6 in october.
I also own The amazing spider-man volume 1-6.
Showcase:
batman 1-5
the brave and the bold 1-3
batman and the outsiders
jla 1
flash 1
green lantern 1 and 5
all star comics
This is too bad. There's a fair amount of stuff I'd like to own, but while I don't mind them being b&w at retail (I'm with you on the line work) I can't bring myself to pay some of the OOP prices for something that isn't color. I'm not near my collection right now, but off the top of my head I have
Showcase:
All-Star Comics v1
Batman v2
Batman v5
Batman & the Outsiders v1
Brave & Bold v1
Brave & Bold v2
Brave & Bold v3
Doom Patrol v1
Doom Patrol v2
Justice League v4
Justice League v5
Justice League v6
Teen Titans v1
Teen Titans v2
Shazam v1
Spectre v1
Essentials:
Amazing Spider-Man v1
Avengers v1
Avengers v2
Avengers v3
Avengers v4
Avengers v5
Avengers v6
Avengers v8
Avengers v9
Classic X-Men v1
Classic X-Men v2
Classic X-Men v3
Doctor Strange v4
Fantastic Four v1
Fantastic Four v2
Fantastic Four v3
Fantastic Four v4
Fantastic Four v5
Fantastic Four v6
Fantastic Four v7
Fantastic Four v8
Fantastic Four v9
Human Torch v1
Moon Knight v1
Nova v1
Thor v1
Thor v3
Thor v5
Thor v6
Thor v7
Spider-Woman v1
Wolverine v3
I'd like Black Panther, The Defenders, Doctor Strange, Sub-Mariner and all the horror titles.
It is a shame the big phone book black and white format seems to be on the way out. A good portion of Marvel's Silver and Bronze run got into print at least once in this format. There was many things that didn't, but it's even a more thorough reprint than even the Masterworks line. You can read most of the main classic Marvel super hero titles up to 1980 in this format including a handful of less popular series.
The Epic line seems to be setup as a sequel collection series but boy you are going to pay for the color. It's going to take a long, long time to get the lines filled in. I wonder how they will do keeping them in print. At the price point, they should have just added 5 bucks made them hard cover and made this the definitive reprint series. They should just get a catalog together and keep them in print. It's just weird that stuff like Steve Ditko's Dr. Strange is out of print, that is one of the classic comics of all time by Spider-man's creator artist.

Can somebody explain why something like Superman: Our Worlds at War retails for $25 with ~500 pages, but they don't do that for the Essential/Showcase lines? Again, I like the Showcase/Essentials but I imagine most people who are intrigued by the idea of the lines until they realize they're b&w would be willing to pay $5 more for color.
