Star Wars is set "A long time ago in a Galaxy far far away", so any crossover would have to be a "What if?" style out of continuity story for both franchises.

And that'd be cool because some characters could be maimed and/or killed too without lasting consequences on continuity. Well, it'd be great if you're into that sorta thing (I am).

...cause let's face it, it's gotta happen some day, what should the plot be? Limited to one section of Marvel or all of it? Guardians of the Galaxy seems the most logical to me if we're going with the Original Trilogy. A Palpatine and Thanos alliance would be terrifying.

I'd so buy that as a mini & Deadpool has had so many minis recently alongside his ongoing. That's one they could just add to the pile, I'm pretty sure most of them aren't in continuity anyway (as if that ever mattered to deadpool).

I've seen enough gestalt PCs and NPCs on D&D to not discount the feasibility of this combo.

It can be done for some very tongue in cheek humor or it can be down right epic if done right.
I would take advantage of the "Along time ago, in a galaxy far, far away" line and make it so new characters are introduced in the past so we can explore completely new relationships and dynamics that would be better suited for Star wars instead of a blatant cash grab with a GOTG or Avengers cross over. I would use the Nova Corp and follow a small group of them coming into contact with an Imperial fleet. No warning, no Sith or Jedi just two races meeting for the first time in a very awkward way. Thanks to the super hero aspect of the Nova Corp they are small in numbers but could eventually defeat an army and since there would be such a small group returning both sides would be confused which could lead to another bigger crossover or with nothing at all but a satisfying and rounded up ending where they don't return for reasons of it was just a chance encounter.
