But he wasn't very good outside of his viper so it balances.
But don't forget tischmann, Casey, and Weinberg. I think I remember Loeb not being terrible, but that was pretty 90s.
One button optic blast? Don't remember that.
Time split and the command throw weren't good, but they sure were cool.
Yeah, it was one button to shoot his projectile optic blast. As a beginner, Megaman's one button mega buster, Cable's one button handgun, and Cyke's one button optic blast projectile (not the screenwide beam) were how I started. Then I learned about joystick roles in fighting and etc.

i always loved cable
The dream is dead, so wake up and fight!
Me once i learned to use the joystick. Hated how the Iron Men kinda tucked in their chest to shoot their unibeams because then I'd get hit. No such qualm against rapid-fire cable (except when he paused after using his Hyper Viper Beam on the ground. Godly when used in the air [no recovery time]).
Yeah, Cykes optic blast was slow, but it was good since I didn't know how to play. Try King of Fighters. That game is terrible for beginners.

I liked the Cable solo stories from the late nineties when he was living in New York hanging out with reporter Irene Merryweather and single mother Stacey Kramer
All nails hit perfectly in this thread from the 90s extreme to his marking the end of the New Mutants to his involvement with EvilBishop and the horrendous Hope Summers.
I always preferred Bishop. A really great character who was mishandled completely post-Claremont.
