So should we consider this to be Pre-Zero Hour Gotham being sealed?
Like action, adventure, rogues, and outlaws? Like anti-heroes, femme fatales, mysteries and thrillers?
I wrote a book with them. Outlaw’s Shadow: A Sherwood Noir. Robin Hood’s evil counterpart, Guy of Gisbourne, is the main character. Feel free to give it a look: https://read.amazon.com/kp/embed?asi...E2PKBNJFH76GQP
This'll be mega sci-fi mechanical nitpicking, but the causality strand has been sticking in my brain as far as how Brainiac managed to swipe these cities right before their timeline is doomed and shifts. There was mention by Telos as well of the timing having to be perfect - you can't grab them too early or the temporal ripples might be too big for the universe to align itself from (too much time for changes before the event happens) but too late and obviously it's all annihilated.
But we've like ... seen some of these direct transitions, in action, as like, either some sort of temporal wave passes over and everything is different afterwards, or like, a sort of "blink" moment where it's all there then it's all slightly different. Capturing pre-Flashpoint stuff works pretty well because there's all that wiggle room of the time when Barry's stopping Zoom or stopping himself and in any of those moments things could be snatched, he'd return to his "fixed" Gotham or whatever, and never be the wiser.
But with COIE, didn't Superman actually watch the whole thing get time-blended? There was no "Moment" to speak of, just an organic temporal transition phase.
Ah, but whatever. Hypertime. It's all organic temporal transition phases and it always has been.
Retro315 no more. Anonymity is so 2005.

Back on the whole Catwoman track, it's freaking delightful to see Catwoman in her purple 90s outfit depicted by art that's not hypersexualized or X-TREME. By that I mean the cover. The art itself is nice in the issue. I mean it's not Balent silly anatomically incorrect pseudo-porn art. Much more like something from recent history. I totally dig Catwoman and expect to like this.

The art is worlds better than the art we got in Convergence Harley Quinn - but it definitely would have been nice if they could have brought some artists and writers back from the books they were inspired from. Jim Balent doing this book, even though his style has become more... lascivious since then - would have been amazing. And, Jo Duffy or Devin Grayson on writing duties would be epic.
And, what happened to her tail? She has one on the first page, and then it disappears.

Current Pull List: Catwoman - Batman - Detective Comics - Harley Quinn - Grayson - Batgirl - Afterlife With Archie - Chilling Adventures of Sabrina - Harley Quinn/Power Girl - Black Canary - Midnighter
Chuck Dixon on writing would have been gold...but that ship has long sailed.
Still, this was a great era for Selina, where she was a villain--or a thief, anyway--always on the edge of being a hero. She was self-interested, but would stop to do the right thing when the situation called for it.
They see the battle in the Dawn of Time, but afterwards there's a sudden cut in the narrative and Kal-L suddenly wakes up on the fused Earth, thinking that everything had been a dream. So, there could be some moment in between where the cities are collected. Maybe from the original timeline before the Anti-Monitor goes back to the dawn of time, or even from after that narrative cut, if the effects took a while to happen.
Edit: Although, thinking about it, none of those points would explain Supergirl still being alive in Earth-1.

The old costume being back is so refreshing. Reminds me of how much I hate the Brubaker one now.
It was enjoyable to have a reluctantly heroic, smart-mouthed, and gadget using Catwoman again.
Still like most of the Convergence issues, it's a little let down by the only-two-book format and "let's you and him fight" set-up. Though I'm liking the idea of the Zero Hour and Kingdom Come heroes uniting against the plan.

This issue had some odd jumps, and the pacing felt a little off. Particularly the last page--KC Batman appears out of nowhere with no setup from the prior page. I'm hoping the second issue gets better.
This week, I only got this issue and Shadow of the Bat. However, I flipped through a few of the other Convergence issues from this week, and I noticed one oddity--the Kingdom Come characters don't really recognize the pre-Zero Hour characters. I mean, they generally recognize them, but most people recognize that Kingdom Come was written as a possible future of the mid-1990s DCU. It seems logical that the KC characters should recognize pre-ZH DC as their past, or something resembling their past. The disconnect feels really off.
Let me be the first to say I absolutely love the current Catwoman run. But it was also really awesome to see Catwoman being plain 'ol Catwoman again. I enjoyed this tie-in. The big review of who Selina has to fight at the end of the issue was incredibly predictable, but I still enjoyed the issue as a whole.
