Bladeeeeeeee!
Yooooo! I never thought about that one but you definitely could be right, especially with the changes Gillen made to her sexuality.
Double minority will make Marvel look twice as progressive.
Only problem is handling her powerset (flight, strength and durability) on a TV budget, although she'd be easier to do than Kamala (shape and size-changing). If it is a mid-season show, they could probably play around with it a bit more.
Still think it's going to be Cloak and Dagger. As mentioned upthread, it sounds like a property more up Ridley's alley.
Kamala is the best new character created at marvel in friggen ages, hope that rumor is true.
Not on ABC.
As much as I like Kamala, I don't think this is going to be her. Not only would she not have the Carol connection, but how would she even get her powers? It's not like Terrigenesis is widespread yet (unless Agents of SHIELD gets to actually open that box before the films). I'd still say Cloak & Dagger or Runaways are the safe bets here.
You can do it without mentioning Carol at first. There is also no required reason to have her get her powers in episode one. She can already be active when the series starts. You can do the Carol stuff after her movie comes out.
And there is no reason this project couldn't be Night Trasher since there was talk of a series in the 90s.
Or the hated Eli Bradley. The other Captain America's grandson.
Someone from Latino Review (who has a stronger track record than a reddit rumor) says that Ridley will be race bending a preexisting character from the comics. Which means it could be anyone.
Maybe he's going to reboot "Heroes for Hire" and make Misty Knight caucasian....?
I doubt that. Defenders is basically going to be Heroes for Hire and given his background it's more likely it'll be a white character being played by a black actor.
I guess I should have used a winky emoticon
But seriously, I think the whole "Heroes for Hire" concept would be worth rebooting because Luke and Danny are going to be in "The Defenders" and unless they plan to charge for their services, the idea of heroes for hire is still valid even without Luke and Danny.
