A brief thing, but it does tie back into my point earlier, in a way that's deeper and more unfortunate than I had realized.

They have only one Black Hero slotted in the coming times, and his book doesn't any Black creative insight. And Livewire hasn't had anything to her name for awhile now.

Here's hoping his tenure leads to some cool new titles with some cool new characters.

Do they have anyone who isn't white lined up to write or draw a book? Seems like the closest they have is Spaniards on art, who are considered white in Europe but not in the US. It's kinda surprising, seeing as how I hear so much about "Valiant is run by SJWs" and yet it's white dudes writing and drawing across the board.

Valiant is a double edge sword when it comes to diversity. They have more opportunities and ease to introduce diverse characters because they are a newer company not trapped in amber like the big two. But they are a smaller company and can't really afford to expirement like the Big two. The Covid quarantine probably hit them harder than the big two.

Basically all they are releasing right now is X-O and Bloodshot, their biggest characters. They have precious few creators working right now, and they're likely the biggest names they can get within their budget.

IMO, they need to sell books more than they need to pander to certain journalists.

I got around to finishing the first run of X-O Manowar from the 90s. And it ended BAD. The current Dennis Hopeless run may not be very good, but at least the storytelling is coherent.

I finished reading it myself last week and I kind of liked that the ending of the original XO series was the beginning of Acclaim's VH-2 universe. But yea, several of those final issues had no direction and were pointless but I did enjoy the Bart Sears art along with his clone Andy Smith.

YES!! Sears art is the best thing about 90's Valiant imo, he drew a bad ass XO and Turok. wish they bring him in to work on some current stuff, or at least some covers.
