    I guess it would depend on when you became an X-Men reader. Both Nightcrawler and Rogue were big X-Characters in the 80s, yes, at the level of a Storm. Rogue was a wild character, basically a female wolverine, and Nightcrawler headlined Excalibur and lead the X-Men for a bit. To me is like asking people who grew up in the 90s why they like characters like Gambit and Bishop. At one point Emma was a side character that nobody would proclaim to be their favorite X-Man, and now she has quite a following, which to me personally is weird because I remember the character from the 80s. For a whole generation the characters from TAS ARE THE X-MEN, and I think a lot of the fans from the 80s and late 2000 would probably ask the sane question.
