For me, No one does Crime Drama as well as Brubaker.

I'm definitely going to give Revengeance a shot.

I like Stray Bullets but it isn't the best book in the genre for me. I would love to see more Crime Dramas on the stands.
My Top 5 Comic Books I am reading are:

    1. Velvet
    2. Black Magick
    3. Kill or Be Killed
    4. Lazarus
    5. The Fix

For a while, crime-driven comics were a thing (around the Rucka Batman era). Vertigo attempted a crime noir line but it didn't go further than the first round. There's a demand for it, but it seems like it's got to be a crime comic with an element of cape.

I'm looking forward to Revengeance. Darwyn Cooke's adaption of the Parker novels have been stellar.

I can only take crime drama in short spurts, else it gets a little too depressing for me. One thing that I don't like about most crime series is that everything is death and misery with little to no happiness or high moments for the characters. I do like Brubaker's crime work but I think Aaron does the best at it with Scalped being my favorite crime series thus far.
Epic things: "TOPANGA" (GHA), Jaxson & Zefferson (PRO), Lucas (SHEL)

Lapham is the pinnacle of crime/noir for me. And I agree the last few issues have been funny. Of course, you know it will end terribly. But it's a fun ride along the way.

In my opinion Aaron should be listed here as well.

Well, with The Fade Out ending in a few more issues, what other current crime / mystery (but not spies / espionage) titles do people recommend?

Go out right now and buy Stray Bullets Uber Alles Edition, then get Stray Bullets Killers, and then the current Stray Bullets Sunshine and Roses.

I second this recommendation and add that you should also pick up the Murder Me Dead trade from David Lapham too. Has a similar feel to Stray Bullets.

Speaking for myself, Southern Bastards is doing a fair job of filling the shitkicker-noir hole Justified's departure left in my heart (though Esaw's profile did feel like a slight step down from the excellent one of Craw's sheriff).
