    I can see where you're coming from in the abstract, but we're talking about superheroes, here. The reader (or the viewer) has already bought into the idea that they're generally portrayed the good guys. A little bit of territorial possessiveness isn't a big deal.

    I refer to the small town I live in as "my city," so it doesn't personally bother me.
