The Phoenix being Jean Grey during Dark Phoenix Saga and her being in a cocoon in Jamaica Bay the whole time. There are a ton of other awful retcons I can list on here for days, but that Jean Grey retcon bothers me the most.

- Jamaica Bay Jean
- bone claw Wolverine
- Peter being the real Peter
- Captain America: Ice
- Snap Wilson not being real
- Xorn. I hated Magneto as the villain but holy crap
These make me laugh because making Magneto the father of Wanda and Pietro was a retcon in the first place. Years before Claremont changed it, in the Avengers it was shown that Bob and Madeline Frank were the parents and Madeline was the one who went to Mount Wundagore to give birth. Magda being there was tacked on years later. The only reasoning Byrne gave for Magneto being the father was because of how Neal Adams drew Magneto for the first time without his helmet and he had white hair. Might as well say Steve Martin could be their father too.

If it's good enough for establishing Sandman as a lost Osborn...
What kills me is that, as a mutant married to an Inhuman with a totally human daughter who's the granddaughter of Magneto everyone has vetted Quicksilver's genetics. He lived in the home of the High Evolutionary. He married into the royal family of the most advanced genetic-supremacist society on Earth. There was an entire Avengers/X-Men crossover about his daughter's lineage.
You'd think someone would have noticed.
Patsy Walker on TV! Patsy Walker in new comics! Patsy Walker in your brain! And Jessica Jones is the new Nancy! (Oh, and read the Comics Cube.)
Iron Man being retconned from a maverick and staunch anti-government and pro-freedom guy into a government stooge.

Almost forever. Basically since he stopped being arms dealer around 1970 or so. He's always been about keeping government out of his business and just generally extremely mistrustful about government.
He seemed pretty SHIELD-friendly during the early 90s, if not most of the 90s. And during Byrne's run. But, I admit, I don't really know the golden era of IM stories outside of Demon in a Bottle and stuff he was doing in other titles. Rollerskates and the nose on the mask.

Lots of stuff Marvel has done recently:
-The Mag twins not being mutants
-GOTG being the most important earth-centric team ever
-Real Thor not only being unworthy, but less powerful and capable than She-Thor is.
-Nick Fury being evil
and so on

I strongly disliked the rewriting of Claremont's version of Storm and Black Panther's first meeting. He wrote them as two brave teens, fighting together and respected both characters. The retcon had a powered Storm being a complete swooning damsel in distress, and being rescued before they disappeared into the countryside to have very under aged sex. (She was 12/13 ish, T'Challa a little older.)
Ick, ick, ick.
