The great thing about Vision was always the fact he was a machine with human emotions. Vision Quest turned him into just a machine.
The Vision was first introduced in Avengers 57 in 1968, just 3 issues after the appearance of Ultron. He was built by Ultron to destroy the Avengers, which he
nearly did, but came to admire their refusal to give up when everything was lost, and had a change of heart. After he helped defeat Ultron and with nowhere to call
home, the Avengers let him join. Then he cried, in one of the best panels ever. Roy Thomas was the writer of the series then, and as time went on, Vision's role
became bigger and he was featured more. His run lasted until issue 104. Lots of good books there. Steve Englehart started writing in issue 106, and he picked up
on a plotline involving Vision's attraction to the Scarlet Witch and his feelings of inadequacy, and her attraction to Vision, also. The rest of his run focused on those
two a lot, with them eventually getting married. His run ends at 151. You should read them all, plus Giant Size Avengers 1, 2, 3 & 4. It's worth reading.
