Default [Speculation] Radical change in status quo for mutants after Secret Wars

The mutants are not being moved to a universe of their own, nor are they being turned into inhumans, nor is the mouse going to outright kill a product that is still profitable. The mutants are, however, occupying a position in the Marvel comic universe which could be more profitable for the mouse if only it were occupied by another property for which said rodent held the full movie rights.

Enter "Secret Wars", a story closely associated with these words:

What do the X-Men dream about? A world where humans and mutants coexist peacefully, where mutants are no longer persecuted for being born different. At the end of Secret Wars, they just might get what they wished for - living in a world where mutants are no longer hated and feared. With that role no longer occupied, it will soon find itself taken over by the inhumans and the X-Men will find themselves in a position they have never been before.

Consider the words of Alonso from the interview Alonso teases "new world" for X-Men following "Secret Wars":

"At that point, they're going to introduce a new team that feels unlike anything you've seen before.

That would be dumb because the X-Men would become the new Fantastic Four and the Inhumans the new X-Men.

Back when we everyone was asking why the hell people hate mutants when the Fantastic Four aren't much different.

A shake-up like that sounds pretty good. It doesn't make sense for people to hate the X-Men and not anyone else with powers. Something could happen that the Inhumans, a much smaller group, get blamed for during SW and become the new hated group...

I figure they need to go one of two ways with the X-Men.

Either drop the whole hated, misunderstood angle which given the shape of of society when it was created in 1963 vs. today means the story just doesn't resonate like it once did makes sense and integrate the X-Men into the mainstream Marvel Universe

    or...

Completely isolate them from the rest of the Mainstream Universe and see how much cash they can squeeze out of the books using B-level writers and artists while moving all their A-list talent to the books they control the movie rights on.

^ I'm good with either one of those. I would really like them to be their own thing, just the mutants and humans, but they say that's not happening...

You'll fit right in on these boards.

I personally don't think giving them a happy ending constitutes ripping out the soul of the X-Men. Hated and Feared is the tagline, but for the last several years it's mainly been an excuse to keep resetting the X-Men back into a minority metaphor, when books like Astonishing or Excaliber show that there are so many other things you can do with them.

Some things never change even if the whole world could wish that.

I can easily see the Inhumans taking over the 'hated and feared' tagline. If say, mutants are instrumental in saving the world (or creating the new one), in a manner that makes it absolutely clear that it all would have failed if not for them (as opposed to merely acting in their own corner) we have the potential for a huge shift in the perception of mutants.

The Inhumans could easily become hated and feared by their own actions. Unlike with mutants, there is only one public voice of note for the Inhumans. So if Medusa threatens, public perception will be that means ALL inhumans.
    Dark does not mean deep.

Why revert M-day if Inhumans are taking their niche.

Discrimination is likely as strong as it was. Just because it's censored doesn't negate it,
