The original Usagi will also appear in the series in some form. Flashbacks? Time travel? I have no idea. Apparently Stan has final approval over everything, from character designs to story, so that's cool!
That's interesting that it's using Senso as canon, but I guess that might explain some of the futuristic elements of the setting since Feudal Japan had to adapt after fending off an alien invasion.

I would assume we'll see Usagi in flashbacks as Yuichi tries to follow in his footsteps.

Tom Luth is retiring. He's been the cover colorist since the beginning of the series and has done the interior colors since the switch from black and white a year ago. His last issue will be #14.

I have to say, the consistency of having colorist all these years set the template for how Usagi should look in color, making the recent transition almost seamless. The imprint he left on the book will continue long after.

Do you have a link to the news? That's a damn shame he's retiring because his work has served to highlight the series for sure.

It's been a LOOOONG time since anyone's posted in here! I got into Usagi fairly recently, at Yukichi's first appearance. A friend started reading it a number of years ago and tried to get me interested, but I brushed it off as children's book fare. But I decided to finally give it a shot, and yeah, I've been buying it since. I wish I had listened to my friend earlier!

We're getting a new mini/arc starting tomorrow! Hopefully we can have a good discussion about the issue here!

Sadly, I got knocked off my usual comic reading schedule these last couple of years (sometime after my last post here) and am now catching up on Usagi. I hope to be fully caught up and back to reading 'live' by... uh, issue #2 of the new arc!

Went to my local shop to pick up the latest Usagi issue and the clerk got a real kick out of the fact I only bought one thing and was a wearing an Usagi t-shirt at the time!

Very longtime Usagi follower, still here, still following. Miss the black and white pages; color's nice and all, but seems flat to me compared with the richness of b&w. but hey, Usagi's still number one on my reading list!

Wandered if there was any Usagi news I missed and found this article on the SDCC panel last July...

    https://www.comicsbeat.com/sdcc-23-s...s-panel-recap/

In the intervening 9 months some of this stuff has already come out, but I'm really interested in the watercolor Usagi artbook and the project that'll involve guests creators' takes on Usagi.

Thanks for the article link! Regarding other creators working on Usagi stories, IDW recently announced and previewed an upcoming Saturday Morning Adventures TMNT book that will have Usagi in it. The latest free IDW Catalog (their version of Marvel previews) even comes with a poster with Usagi front and center! Worth a grab if your LCS still has them.

Have y'all read the latest book? I hadn't realized that Yukichi still hasn't met a lot of Usagi's friends yet. He's part of the regular story now but Usagi has such a rich history that many characters don't show up again for years, huh? Also, Yukichi sure seemed to take things personally. I wonder if we'll get more backstory with him in this mini.

^ A beauty of the series is that Usagi is a traveler with an expansive cast who often don't meet one another (for a while), so when Stan decides to pair Usagi with another character for an extended period of time (Jotaro, Tomoe Ame, Inspector Ishida, and now Yukichi) you get the fun of people meeting and new character combinations!
