Picked up the first volumes of Wally Wood's The Wizard King (The King of the World) as part of Heavy Metal's 80% off sale they ran in October and it just arrived yesterday. Also go the Paul Gulacy art book and filled in some holes in my Heavy Metal run circa 1983-1985 as part of the order.

Went to Jim & Dan's Comic & Toy Show this afternoon at Wright State University, and there were several dealers selling discount trades, 75% off cover, 4 for $20, 5 for $20 and one vendor had all trades at $2 each, so I loaded up on reading material for the winter..

    these were all $2 each...

Yeah, I see $5 trades or 50% off cover on trades a lot at shows from dealers blowing out backstock, but it's not always stuff I am interested in, but $2 trades was a first for me, and there was actually a lot I was interested in, so it was even more surprising to me.

Nice haul! Particularly those volumes of The Unwritten.

My buying has gone mad lately. I generally check eBay and don't go above £4.33 a book, so my purchases up and down depending on the sellers and other bidders. Recently there have been a lot of cheap books (and my max seems to be slipping up to £4.50). Also, when I construct my Amazon Wishlist for Christmas, I often find some books are so cheap in the marketplace that I buy them on the spot:

Judge Dredd: The Complete Case Files v14 and 15
Ultimate Comics Spider-Man: Divided We Fall, United We Stand
House of Mystery: Love Songs for Dead People
Superman: Last Stand of New Krypton v1
    Captain America: Two Americas
    Secret Six: Danse Macabre
    Faith v2
Superman: The Final Days of Superman
Guadians of the Galaxy: Civil War II
Doctor Strange: The Last Days of Magic
East of West vols 2 and 3
    Batman: Life After Death
    Brightest Day v1
    Batman: City of Owls
    Batman: Death of the Family
    Fables v14: Witches
Batman and Robiin v1: Born to Kill
    Amazing Spider-Man: Big Time
The Shadow (Ennis) v1: The Fire of Creation
    Stumptown v1-3
Ultimatum Requiem: SPpider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four
    Southern Cross v1
    Monstress v1: Awakening
    The Mighty
Frank Miller's Robocop v2: Last Stand Part 1 and v3: Last Stand Part 2

From a secret Santa exchange, I got the following:

    Dark Horse Book of Horror
    Mr. Higgins Comes Home

from one of the local shops having a warehouse sale this weekend I picked up

    Buck Rogers Vol. 1 (Dynamite)
    Coyote Vol. 1 and 4
    The American (not pictured)

and using an Amazon gift card my mom sent me I ordered the following (most of which should arrive before X-Mas eve)

Usagi Yojimbo Vol. 3 and 5 (completing the Fantagraphics trades for me)
Golden Age Wonder Woman Vol. 1 tpb
Ragnarok by Walter Simonson Vol. 1
Bone Sharps, Cowboys and Thunder Lizards by Jim Ottaviani (which has intrigued me since David Petersen of Mouseguard fame mentioned it during his keynote speech at the Ringos as the one book he most often recommends to turn people on to comics)

I really enjoyed The American. Apparently it's from a rejected Captain America pitch that Mark Verheiden made.
