Default Marvel reveals who are the parents of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver

The 4th edition of Uncanny Avengers, which reveal who the real parents of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, only comes out next week in the USA, but in his newly released previews Marvel Comics already delivers the revelation:

According to the High Evolutionary, so parents Wanda and Pietro are none other than Django and Marya Maximoff, a couple of Romanian gypsies who were presented in the comics as the adoptive parents of twins, which in turn emerged as members of the Brotherhood of Mutants and they established themselves as natural children of Magneto. In Uncanny Avengers # 4, the High Evolutionary says simply returned the babies, the gypsies when his experiments with Wanda and Pietro did not have the desired effect.

The identity of the real parents became a mystery after the Marvel revealed the AXIS saga that Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are not children of Magneto. Continued revision is seen as a business move, although she hardly has legal value; if the couple is not changing, it could hinder the use of the two Avengers movies in the X-Men.

It now remains to know, proven the paternity of Django and Marya, if Wanda and Pietro have some trace of blood Inhuman or if his powers were even all assigned by the High Evolutionary when they were babies.

This is so much cooler and more interesting than them being children of Magneto. *eyeroll*

In the least, this makes Magneto mind controlling Wanda to dance for him back in the day a bit less weird.

I...not really. They're still pretty linked and probably will be forever.

Maybe the next retcon can return them to being the son and daughter of Robert Frank and Madeline Joyce?

I'm still thinking any new startling revelations since Age Of Ultron are Hypertime alternative realities transfered into the 616. So the Twins being Gypsies is an alternative reality origin. The real one still has Magneto as the father.

You'll notice that the last Incursion wipes out all the anomaly surprise revelations since Age of Ultron, though. Nothing happened in the Earth-616 since Avengers #12.1 the way it did. It was all like a dress rehearsal for Battleworld.

Which had no more basis than John Byrne noticing that Neal Adams and the colorist working an X-Men comic gave Magneto white hair. At least with Robert Frank, ya know the first guy who was revealed to be the father, was also a speedster.

Marvel ruined one of the most dynamically twisted Marvel families and for what? A stupid Business move.

not a big deal to me one way or the other. The stupid stuff to me involves that evolved cow/hippo whatever it is, as the "nanny". Good lord, that was a "high evolutionary", indeed. I'm thinking the creatives were experimenting with their own "terrigen crystals" back then.

Are children looking like their parents or having the same powers as their parents a more precise basis for parentage? Honestly, I'd probably lean towards Quicksilver's physical resemblance of Magneto being an indicator of their relation as opposed to him having the same powers as the Whizzer.
Either way, the twins being the children of Magneto is something far more ingrained into Marvel's history than what we would've ever gotten out of Whizzer and Miss America.

Marvel could care less about it's rich and wonderful history anymore, it seems. It's all about the movies, folks. Money talks, and whether it makes creative or aesthetic sense to alter origins really doesn't matter much to them, IMO.

And that is really depressing to this long time fan.
