Usually the former but of course being lauded by others helps. It's also a "bit" hyperbolic ranking.

To me, it means something I can read over and over again.

For instance, while I like say... Ewings Mighty Avengers first arc... I doubt I will ever read it again.

The artwork is neat and writing is fun. Fair warning, the story is split between Clint and kate Bishop.

As a Fraction fanboy, I would agree, however, there have been delays. So if anything is holding it back, it would be that. And really long delays, too, not just a few weeks.

How about Avengers #160 to #177, by Jim Shooter, David Michelinie and Bill Mantlo, with art by John Bryne, George Perez and Sal Buscema?

Seriously, that has one of the highest concentrations of classic stories in any series I've ever seen. "...The Trial!", "The Bride of Ultron!", "Day of the Godslayer!", and ending it with the Korvac Saga. That there is one of the high points of Bronze Age Marvel.

For the people who love the Punisher Max series, how do you compare it to Welcome Back Frank?

For me, "god-tier" means near perfect. BUT not just near perfect, also a unique game-changer. A run that will be so iconic, and so beloved, that all writers of that series will forever look to that run as "a symbol of excellence." A run that is near universally praised and beloved; and one that ended at the peak of it's game NOT slowly crawling towards it's own death.

Hmmmm... God-Tier (I assume) is near flawless. The final arc (and it was long) lost all the perfection of the first three arcs. If it ended with the Dark Angel Saga, then YES it would be God-tier (for me)

I loathe the term and think it's inaccurate if we're saying "near perfect," but I agree these comics are on the highest Marvel level. Also:

Warren Ellis - Secret Avengers, Nextwave
    Peter Milligan - All-New Doop
Doug Moench, Charlie Huston - Moon Knight
    "Born Again"
    Claremont's 16 year X-Men run
    Greg Rucka - Punisher

As Ennis is popping up I thought his work on Fury was near perfect. Considering I am not big on war stories and was never a fan of Nick Fury this was both surprising and rewarding.

Oh and Jorney into Mystery by Gillen deserves placing at this level.

Inconsistent and still unfinished despite the next volume starting. I loved the high points but some of this was mediocre. All in all I think Marvel messed up their relationship with him and the comic has suffered.
