    Default Lockjaw Appreciation

Lockjaw was born on the island of Attilan, formerly in the Atlantic Ocean. Lockjaw resembles a giant bulldog and serves in the capacity of the Inhumans' teleporter and escort to the Royal Family of the Inhumans. Many times he has brought Inhumans to Earth and back again. At times, his powers have been manipulated by evil forces, most usually Maximus the Mad.

I admit the first time I heard of this character was when he teamed up with Kamala, so I was quite surprised to find that he's been around for quite a while. What makes Lockjaw so popular that he's stuck around this long? Is it that he's, well, a giant dog?

Lockjaw's history is actually very interesting. Personally, I think he was MORE cool before the retcon that made him an "Incanine", back when everyone assumed he was just another cousin of the Royal Family, who went through terrigenesis and emerged in the form of a giant bulldog.

Still, Lockjaw is easily my favorite super-powered pet, and the mightiest mutt in all of Marveldom! I really hope we get to see him grace the big screen soon!

Really, that was the first time? He was in the Pet Avengers series not too long ago. He goes back to the Lee/Kirby Fantastic Four run and was frequently seen with Crystal. His function was as the frequently used teleporter for the Inhumans. For a short time, the Fantastic Four had a pet called Puppy who looked very much like him and it was never made clear if he was related to Lockjaw somehow.

The first time i saw him was in Paul Jenkins Inhumans. I loved how he could sense Dewoz teleporting.

You know - with Inhumans such as Eldrac and Hub, I could see that Retcon being undone. I think LockJaw would be far more interesting if the dog form was from Terrigenesis.

Either way, Lockjaw is awesome. How can you not love him?

I think the retcon is for the best. Saying he's actually a human and that a human can be turned into a dog by Terrigenesis sounds like one of the most creepy things ever.

But isn't that why it's so cool?

The thing about the Inhumans is that they were supposed to be kinda creepy! The "Uncanny" adjective was meant to evoke that, I believe.

No! The other Inhumans can be all creepy. He's a giant dog. I want him to be uncannily cute.

If you want to take a walk on the wild side and get even more creeped out, try reading this bizarre (and slightly conspiratorial) article I found, all about Lockjaw's "true" abilities!
