Absorbing an attack can absolutely be harder. It depends on how their abilities work.

And what feats does Madara have that shows he can tank an attack that could bust an island? Even if you do not agree Goku is a moon buster at this point, he would absolutely be an island buster at the very least.

Juubi can tank his own Bijuu Dama which are arguably country busting giving his spitballs destroy entire mountain ranges (those blast radius are already at the size of the smaller island counties by the way ).

Madara's skin is Juubi's skin. Literally.

Only a stronger Juubi because his Juubi is better than Obito's Juubi.

Pain was a village buster. He literally wiped away Konoha. And Nagato wasn't even the original owner of the Rinnegan he possessed. Also Pain himself admitted that his power was nothing compared to the Sage of Six Paths. Given that Madara has the Rinnegan and the power of the Sage of Six Paths he should be multiple times more powerful than Nagato.

That's why I don't see Madara and Goku(at the time of the tournament) as even. Madara has way too much power and variety of attacks.

The Deva Path can also repel attacks and seeing how much damage Pain did with it, Madara should be able to repel any casual Ki blasts Goku fires off.

Yea no. What Pain says is irrelevant. We go by feats here. Is Madara ludicrously more powerful than Pain? Yes, but so is Goku.

The two of them are around even in terms of speed, Goku is more or less physically stronger, and both of them have comparable durability. Madara has never shown to have the capability of absorbing anything that Goku can dish out. Can he withstand it? Yes. Absorb? No.

Goku has more ranged attacks than Madara and can fire them off faster than Madara can fire his. Atm, Madara only has the meteors that he uses. Which would hve a very hard time hitting Goku.

So yes, they are more or less even. If there is any gap between them, it is a small one.

Would like to point out that if we're using Juubi Madara he can't actually absorb stuff. Being the juubi host apparently messes with your regular abilities, Obito couldn't do his not really phasing/teleporting bits of himself elsewhere no jutsu and Madara was sandwiched between Naruto and Sasuke's ninjutsu attacks without being able to absorb them, he had to substitue away with one of his shadows.

Not that it really matters due to his durability.
