So from the interviews with Mike Mignola and podcast with Scott Allie today, a lot of new information has come out. Firstly, "THE END" is coming. From that point on, it'll be flashback stories only. It's still a while off though. No need to panic.

Secondly, next year is going to be a big one. There's at least one new story coming every month from March to October. That's really cool.

Thirdly, around mid next year we'll be getting a two-issue story of Hellboy and the B.P.R.D. and at a later undisclosed time, a three-issue story, the pair of which will be 1953. Scott Allie says they plan to do roughly five issues of Hellboy and the B.P.R.D. every year for the foreseeable future. They're going to have rotating creators on the book. Mike Mignola will be writing 1953, but the series will generally be writing collaborations with people who really click with the part of the world Hellboy is exploring (like Japan).

    Thank you for doing this.

I'm casually getting back into Hellboy now that Dark Horse has added in-app purchasing on their app.
I was going to use Multiversity's Reading Order but I much prefer reading in order of publication, instead.

Multiversity Comics' reading order was one I put together with Scott Allie. It was made specifically for reading the entire universe's collections without having to swap between books midway through, so there's a bit of a trade-off for the sake of simplicity.

I'm more of a publishing order reader myself though.

Hello! I'm planning on getting into the Hellboy universe, including BPRD and other spinoffs! My friend lent me the first trade and I loved it! I can't wait to read more.
However, I can't decide which way to start buying the universe. There are the library editions and the trades. I would prefer the library editions, but from the look of things, the trades included in those are all messed up in terms of their order.
Does this make reading confusing for the series, or are the messed up in the same way that Secret Origin for Green Lantern can be read first in the series, even though it was published halfway through Johns' run?
Should I go with the library editions or use the trades instead to go in the published order of the series? Which flows better as a series?
    Thanks!

The Library Editions are very close to the order of the trades. There's a little switching, but it's the short stories, and the publishing order wasn't a chronological story to begin with, so it won't ruin anything.

The only part I dislike is the Bride of Hell stuck in Vol 6 after The Storm and The Fury. That feels like an odd placement.
