I don't like this as much as everyone else, but it is a slow Image week this week, so it'll probably be the highlight of their new releases. I guess my biggest complaint is that the plot and themes seem lazily recycled from his last ongoing comic Sweet Tooth. Hopefully once more stuff happens, it will establish itself as going firmly in a different direction. But I love Lemire, especially his DC work (his Green Arrow was really wild), so I'm with this for the long run no matter what.
Another great issue. I LOVE Driller, his speech pattern and self-deprecating nature really make him feel unique. He is hilarious and likable but scary at the same time, such an awesome character. Bandit remains adorable and I really dig Quon and Telsa. TBH I don't really find myself as interested in TIM himself as much as the supporting cast, but I think TIM was intentionally created to be kind of perfect and "bland" in that sense so I'm okay with that. Lemire's doing a nice job with the pacing and I have no complaints with the script. Nguyen's art is really excellent and I have to give tons of credit to Steve Wands who is doing an unreal job with the lettering. The letting on this book is just amazing and is really the standout aspect of a very impressive package.
Great series. Image is kind of overdoing it with sci-fi lately, but out of all their sci-fi books, this one is standing tall at the head of the pack (I think the three issues here are better than the last three issues of Saga) and this is by far the best of Image's new books this year, no question there.
Image Comics (TPB):
Saga, Southern Bastards, Injection, Descender, Deadly Class, Chew, Black Magick
DC Rebirth (Digital):
The Flash, Batman, Green Lanterns, Aquaman
Driller is so awesome. Seriously, there's not a thing about this series that I don't like. Damn near perfect.
